I have "forever" been a great fan and follower of the late great Kirsty MacColl and indeed include some 50 of her songs in my repertoire. In part leading on from my attending the annual "Kirstyfest" in Soho Square,
London (a celebration of her life and her music) whenever possible and with encouragement from a few close friends and my fella I have decided that my next show will be a tribute to Kirsty MacColl showcasing a show's worth
of her songs. It will be themed as my show delivering my interpretation of her great music as opposed to forming a tribute band. So far I have recorded and released an album entitled "In These Shoes?" comprising
12 songs (11 of them from Kirsty's catalogue, plus one of my own which, itself, includes a tribute to Kirsty) and have started work on another album, working title "ITS2" which should be ready in time for the 2018 shows.
Obviously as soon as shows have been booked I will let folks know via my Facebook page and here on the website - keep watching and, always, feel free to contact me with suggestions for venues and collaborators, I'll always consider any serious suggestions!
Like my earlier CD "By Request", "In These Shoes?" and the upcoming new album are full studio productions, recorded at Pegasus Studios in Cairns, Australia, co-produced with the extraordinary Nigel Pegrum; the musicians on the albums are all amazing and each one brilliant in their own field - I'm supremely proud of the results we've managed to achieve. You can order your copy or download of all of my existing albums via the 'Albums and shop' page here on my website.
Kirsty MacColl photos – Hayley Madden ...
A big thanks to Hayley Madden (UK) for supplying me with a selection of images of Kirsty and for allowing me to include them in my marketing collateral for promoting my tribute to Kirsty
project. Furthermore she did so without the onerous conditions and fees the major image libraries impose for use of images. I hope during my UK tour to meet Hayley and in person proffer
my gratitude for her confidence in me and her most generous contribution. Do look up Hayley’s work:-
